Canadian Composer Stell ter Hart Wins the London Choral Sinfonia's 3rd Christmas Carol Composition Competition

The London Choral Sinfonia has announced that composer Stella ter Hart of has won its 3rd Christmas Carol Composition Competition.  This December 2025, her carol was performed at the Sinfonia's annual concert Sinfonia Smith Square Christmas Festival.

The Sinfonia stated in their announcement that they were "overwhelmed by not only the number of entries but also by the standard of pieces and it was a really tough decision for the judges." The judges were LCS Artistic Director Michael Waldron, LCS Composer-In-Residence Owain Park, and Director of Music Publishing at Oxford University Press, Rachel Lindley.

Stella ter Hart's winning piece, 'The Maiden's Heart,' was chosen by the judges, with words also written by ter Hart.
